Colorkarma is excited to announce our 2022 Design Dash Contest. With our partner Gerber Technology, a Lecra Company, we invite all designers, textile designers, pattern designers, marketers and creatives to submit their colorful, inspiring, calming, fun and creative designs for this years design contest, the table napkin.

The winning napkin design will be produced in the Gerber Technology’s Innovation Center in New York City and sold on Colorkarma. The winning designer will be paid a license (percentage of sales) and receive a Gerber Technology subscription. The full contest rules and submissions can be found at here.

Dashing into 3D Design

Design Dash is for all designers to begin thinking of designing in 3D. Design processes were already moving towards 3D and digital. And the pandemic has only accelerated that transformation. To stay competitive designers and creatives need to embrace digital.

One company helping designers and producers is Gerber Technology. Their software helps people manage product development using digital tools. Their innovation center in New York serves as a micro–factory where they print, cut and sew products – all ON DEMAND. (I had the opportunity to tour their facility, check it out here) The center is not much bigger than a studio apartment, and helps designers and brands see what is possible with 3D design tools, digital processes and today’s production equipment.

It is a way to bring our inner creativity to the outside and share it with others. Submissions are free. Share your design with your friends, family and design colleagues. They can vote daily for their favorite design.

Design Dash Contest Rules

The Design Dash contest is simple.  Anyone can submit a design for a chance to have it produced in the Gerber Technology’s Innovation Center and sold on Colorkarma.com. Designs must be submitted by March 31, 2022.  The design with the most votes wins.

A few key details to remember:
  • No fee to submit.
  • Vote daily, vote for colleagues too.
  • Winners will receive a 1-year license of Gerber Technology’s Accumark 2D and 3D. Accumark 2D and 3D is worth 3,060 dollars. (Money well worth the time to submit.)
  • How to submit a file:
  • Designs can be in PDF, JPG, TIFF, PNG or BMP files.
  • The resolution should be a minimum of 150-300 dpi.
  • Size should be 16″ x 16″ (406.4 mm x 406.8 mm).
  • We prefer seamless patterns, but if there is a repeat, it should be in PNG format with transparency on.
